James was raised between Hong Kong, Australia and NZ. James grew up with exposure to law coming from a family of lawyers and shadowing his barrister father from a young age. James completed his studies at Bond university between 2011 until 2015. Graduating with a Bachelor of Laws and Masters of Accounting. 

During his studies, James worked with Venture International Corporate Services in Singapore. Following James’s studies he gained experience in international and business structuring in Singapore, Mauritius and London for three years until 2018 where he moved back to Australia to work for the multinational accounting  firm Deloitte. James left the Deloitte to work for a boutique law firm in Sydney advising on a broad range of legal services including:

  • Wills and estates;

  • Commercial matters for small to medium businesses;

  • Banking risk and compliance; 

  • Employment matters; and

  • Corporate disputes.

James left Sydney to spearhead the launch of this law firm in South East Queensland, after a family bereavement James decided that he would join his long-standing family business of Diamonds Solicitors, where he applied his experience to bring the business to the forefront of modern businesses. After this process was completed James decided to branch out on his own and started Diamond Law.

With over 10 years experience, in domestic and international tax issues and structuring, business structuring and transaction structuring including mergers and acquisitions by implementing effective structures for transactions and asset ownership, James always ensures to provide his clients seamless and cost-effective outcomes.

James has a solid foundation practising in intellectual property including domestic and international trademarks, franchising, licensing, assignments and structuring advice (including preparation of Shareholders Agreements and Share or Unit Sale Agreements) and general commercial law. James has a practical understanding of domestic and international law meaning his solutions on his practice areas provide the best outcome to his clients.
